Rare Antique German Clockworks Reindeer Christmas Display Nodder Windup Vtg Toy

This is an extremely rare clock-works nodding reindeer. The reindeer as you can see has had his antlers broken off years ago and someone has done a repair to them.

He has glass eyes and his fur is well preserved, for the age of this piece. All of the harnesses are in tact and present without repair.

The reindeer is sturdy and stand erect. The key is not original, just an extra I had laying around, but does fit. When wound the spring winds, but lets loose as soon as you let go of the key.

So he does not wind up correctly, but still nods manually. He measures 14-1/2 in height.

Still even with the few problems, he is a rare find and does not come around very often. I believe someone with a little artistic background could make him some new antlers. The clockworks might be able to be repaired with the knowledge of a clock repairman. But this is beyond my knowledge and will leave it up to its new owners if they chose to do so.
