Item #18245 Hand Painted Tin Clockwork Toy Paddle Steamer Side-Wheeler by George Carette Circa 1910. An exceptionally charming little twin-funneled side-wheeler from George Carette. This delightful item retains much of its original paint, and the enamel has not been touched-up.9" in length overall, and approximately 4.5" in height. There is paint loss at the stern, beneath the waterline, and the rudder has been replaced. It appears that there may have been a flag (holder) soldered at her stern.
There is also some chipped paint at the waterline on the starboard side, behind the paddle wheel. One wheel has a slight bend, and both exhibit wear to the red enamel. That said, I did not apply enough tension to the spring to make the side wheels rotate without manual encouragement. All items offered by Cabin Class Collectibles are authentic examples of ocean liner, steamship, railroad and other transportation memorabilia, vintage dinnerware, restaurant ware, toys, advertising and miscellaneous items. All offerings are vintage items and should be expected to exhibit characteristics commensurate with their age and use.
