FARM BLOCKS Lot, 14 Rare Midcentury 1950s Community Playthings Wooden Blocks
Lot of 14 rare vintage "Community Playthings" wooden blocks. These were made by a small Bruderhof cooperative community in the 1950s & 1960s for the nursery school movement and the emergence of early childhood education. Today they're very rare to find in larger quantities and even moreso in good condition. This lot includes 10 from the farm series: 3 people (Mother with baby, Boy with duck, Farmer/Dad) and 7 animals (Horse and Foal/Pony, Milk Cow and Calf, Pig, Donkey and Collie Dog). And 4 from the nativity set: Baby Jesus, Joseph and 2 different wise men.
All are roughly 1.25 thick. They measure from 4" x 2.25" (Baby Jesus) and 2.75" x 5.75" (Boy with Duck) up to 9" x 5.5" (Cow) and 10" x 8" (Horse). All are in quite nice, clean & sturdy condition. Some edge wear, surface dents, etc.
From use but no chips, cracks or repairs. Cow has a small stray cut near the top of the left facing view... Photos are of the actual items that you will receive. We will not break the lot here to sell individual blocks. If you're looking to complete only a nativity set or farm set, we may be willing to split along those lines.
