Vintage 1920s Marx Smitty Scooter Tin Wind Up Toy

Vintage Marx Tin Smitty Scooter Wind Up. Inspired by the comic strip series "Smitty", the adventures of an office errand boy, created by Walter Berndt in 1913 and syndicated by Famous Artists, the tin toy features Smitty afoot on his three-wheeled scooter, with classic striped sweater, cap and brogans. When wound, the scooter propels forward and he appears to pump the scooter with his hinged arms. Licensed by Famous Artists Syndicate (Marx symbol) Chicago, USA. Excellent condition, functions well, lithograph fresh with few minor scratches and paint chips.

A delightful toy featuring classic American young lad. Litho tin wind up toy is working.

Made in two parts with the figure a separate piece that can slide off the base. It is possible that this is the Louis Marx Co. S first licensed comic character tin toy.
