Research indicates it is from 1952 and was made by J. It has beautiful colors with a few minor scratches.
It has gathered some dust/dirt over the years; but, looks like it should clean up well. Propellers has broken off (see picture). I dont know if it can be repaired; but, Ive seen amazing things done by amazing people. The wind-up mechanism works well. Sometimes it needs a little push to get started; but, I did not wind it tight; so maybe that is the only problem.
Once it starts, it runs and runs. It looks like it has a bell underneath; however, I see no means to strike the bell. I see a part that rotates that could probably hold the bell striker.
It is just missing the striker. I can see a tiny bit of rust (cleanable) in the bell area. The original box has seen better days. One side edge has pulled apart approximately 2/3 down.
This is a manufactured seam that has been taped at the factory. Only the paper tape is torn. There is moisture damage at the bottom (no mold) and a little on one of the lid flaps on top (with a little mold spotting). But, it is still an original box. This Rocket Ride will make a great addition to your collection. Not many out there with the original box. Check out my other listings by clicking on.
