Now, you can control real space flight and land Johnny Astro on the moon. The space race and media hype of the 1960s created a vast market for space toys.
Topper Toys released Johnny Astro in 1967, a battery-operated toy for future astronauts to launch and land space vehicles without wires or direct connections. 16" X 12" Control Center connected to a fan head on one end. Players can control fan speed & direction by the control levers. ORIGINAL BOX - it has the usual fading and scruffs that would be expected from a 57 year old toy.
CONTROL CENTER - Great shape! (See video) Both levers and fan head all really work well. ASTRONAUT & CAPSULE - Hard to believe this piece hasn't been lost over the last 57 years, but they are included!!
LAUNCHING STATION - This piece looks amazing!! ORIGINAL INSTRUCTIONS - The paper is a little yellowed but almost in perfect shape! ORIGINAL BALLON TEMPLATE - it's in great, great shape!! (See pictures) This is used to inflate your balloons to the correct size for play. ONE OF THE ORIGINAL BALLOONS "SPACE VEHICLES" - It is not usable.Too old, and the balloon latex has holes in it but still included since it's original.. You can use any new balloon for play. This is a great toy from an amazing time in America's history.
