Vintage Tin Litho Wind-up Proud Peacock Alps Japan Works

In very good vintage condition, an Alps tin litho wind-up peacock toy. He winds and unwinds properly but his walk is a little stilted. His tail feathers do not open all the way (three layers).

I put a pencil in the area that I think is holding back the feathers (see that photo) but I do not want to mess with it and break him. And his toes are curled up a bit.
