This listing is for a WORKING vintage MARX Toys ARMY & NAVY Wind Up Shooting Gallery game, with original dart Gun & winding Key. This hard to find model has fantastic litho graphics depicting various army & navy vehicles and soldiers which you hit, knock down, or spin for different point values. It is a toy that is so charming even now it could keep children entertained in this modern era. It is not marked by a maker or model number. The design is excellent for many rooms and a large variety of styles of decor.
It makes this an excellent little extra piece for your collection, one your friends definitely wont have! It is a great collectors item, for use display gifting or decor. It is in good condition, with no major damage.
It has some wear to the graphics and various areas of light patina. I have only gently cleaned it to remove grime but avoid any paint damage. It likely could be cleaned up even more by someone with more experience with these vintage toys.The clockwork motor is in good strong running condition. It winds well and starts with the switch- sometimes with a little push of the belt to get it really going as well.
The belt which the boats sits on is strung between two spools. One spool is ever so slightly off-kilter, which prevents it from running for its full intended duration.Again- A light modification by some experienced individual would unleash the full potential this little spring motor has to offer. As it is- it winds well and goes for about 1/3 to 1/2 of its intended run time, then slows. It can be started back up by a push, but it just needs that adjustment to run freely.
Belt is slightly stretched from age & use- it is the original- but it functions fine. The key has a slight bend in the handle, but functions perfectly well. The toy gun - original to this unit and usually missing- has patina, and some rust inside on the spring, but it looks as though it could be cleaned then used. It may even function still- I just dont have any darts to test the mechanism with. Comes functioning, in need of minor adjustments, toy gun untested.
